Summer has many heroes, among them, the yellow peach! At the beginning of the season in North Carolina, they are cling-stone, and making jam from them is a labor of love.  As summer ebbs on though, they become free-stone, their flavor deepens and sweetness hits its peak.  We love peach jam for its lightness, which has a way of cutting through the hottest and most humid days in July. 

 

Ingredients

peaches, granulated sugar, lemon juice, pectin, citric acid

Storage Instructions

Unopened, our jams can be stored for 1 year at room temperature. Once opened, please refrigerate.

At Monuts, our Peach Jam is featured on Just Peachy, a focaccia sandwich with bacon, pickled red onion, sliced peaches, and local lettuce, but if you ask me, it’s most at home slathered onto a hot biscuit into puddle of melty butter. At home, I use it in place of honey—adding it to iced-teas and to salad dressings for balance and brightness. Peach jam makes a lovely addition to a cheese board and plays equally well with aged salty cheese (pecorino, manchego, clothbound cheddar) and softer creamy cheese like brie and chevre.
