No matter what anyone says, you saw this at Monuts first. When we first opened our doors on Parrish Street in early 2013, we forgot to order hot sauce.  We quickly learned that this was unacceptable.  In a moment of panic and exhaustion, I combined two of my favorite things, sriracha and maple syrup, and offered it as a peace offering to our customers.  The rest, as they say, is history.  This sauce is sweet and spicy and the perfect accent to breakfast sandwiches and potatoes.  It’s the flagship condiment at Monuts and once you try it, you’ll want to keep it in your fridge year-round.

Ingredients

maple syrup, sriracha (sun-ripened chiles, garlic, sugar, salt, vinegar, and xantham gum), canola oil

Storage Instructions

Shake well before using. Unopened, maple sriracha sauce can be stored for 1 year at room temperature. Once opened, please refrigerate.

Try it like this

I don’t like putting parameters on the possibilities of maple sriracha, so instead I’m just going to tell where I think it shines brightest. Next time you make a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, no matter the bread type, add this—a little or a lot—your taste buds will thank you.
